Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer/Technologist

WADE is looking for an Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer/Technologist to join our growing team in Edmonton. Key Responsibilities
Review architectural design drawings and specifications to provide building envelope design review services on new construction projects, including below-grade waterproofing, cladding, glazing/fenestration, air/vapour barrier assemblies, roofing, etc.
Provide building envelope technical expertise regarding environmental control layers (air, thermal, moisture, vapour)
Provide building envelope design guidance on performance, durability, and constructability,
Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines
Maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, architects, sub-consultants, contractors, and building envelope trade contractors throughout all stages of the project
Conduct and assist with building envelope condition assessments, targeted investigations, and building envelope failure analysis
Diagnose building envelope performance issues such as water infiltration, condensation, air leakage, or thermal bridging.
Prepare engineering documents, schedules, or reports
Assist in preparing building envelope details, drawings, contracts, and technical specifications
Perform project document reviews (drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, etc.)
Interpret and analyze field review data to evaluate and make recommendations
Lead pre-bid meetings and construction kick-off meetings
Perform field performance testing (water penetration, air leakage, thermography etc.)
Perform field reviews and manage deficiency lists
Project coordination for small and large projects
Conduct contract administration tasks
Prepare and assist with proposals and project financial budgets
Educations and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Technology Diploma or Certificate in Architecture, Civil, or Construction
Minimum 7 years’ engineering experience is preferred
Experience working on construction sites for buildings is considered an asset.
Understanding of design and drafting practices in AutoCAD
Experience with Microsoft Office
Experience in Building Envelope Rehabilitation projects is an asset.
Experience with building envelope performance testing, such as water penetration testing, air barrier testing, or infrared thermography thermal imaging is an asset
Effective organizational and time management skills

Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hrs/week
