McDougall Place - Parkade Structural Rehabilitation

9921 104 St NW, Edmonton, AB

Project Description

WADE was engaged by the McDougall Place Condominium Corporation to provide design, tendering, field review and contract administration services for the parkade structural rehabilitation. The scope of work included the replacement of the parkade ramp trench, structural steel retrofitting to support the trench beam, concrete repairs and structural steel retrofits for the mechanical doghouse plaza deck openings. Concrete repairs were carried out on cast-in-place elements, including crack and delamination repairs to the beams. Additional retrofit and concrete repairs were completed on the pre-cast slab panels, and replacing traffic coating on suspended slab areas.Challenges included retrofitting around existing plumbing, sprinkler, and drainage systems. Unique repairs involved reinforcing preexisting damaged pretensioned strands on the pre-cast slab panels using couplers, as well as addressing cracks and deterioration at the panel ends. With portions of the parkade vacated during the work, WADE worked closely with the Board of Directors and the Contractor, providing responsive support through timely site reviews and clear direction to minimize schedule impacts and residents use of the parkade.
