Intermediate to Senior Structural Engineer

WADE is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Edmonton.  Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, design, and execution of structural engineering projects.

  • Develop detailed structural designs and calculations for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Utilize advanced engineering software to model and analyze structural components, contributing to safe and efficient designs.

  • Review and approve technical design phases of projects to ensure compliance with industry standards.

  • Work closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into overall project plans.

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and parties involved in the projects to ensure effective communication and coordination.

  • Take accountability for the quality of service on assigned structural engineering projects.

  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineer-in-trainee (EIT), and design team.

  • Participate in construction site visits, client meetings, and presentations to ensure successful project completion.

  • Stay updated on emerging industry trends and incorporate best practices to enhance project outcomes and organizational standards.


Education and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering from an accredited university

  • Registered in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligibility for registration

  • 7–15 years of relevant structural design experience, including a minimum of 4 years practicing as a licensed P.Eng.

  • Experience in the design of multi‑family residential, commercial, and institutional buildings using steel, concrete, and wood structural systems

  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, including SFRAME (Altair Structural Suit), SAFE, Wood Works, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and related visualization tools

  • Comfortable working on active construction sites and participating in site reviews

  • Aptitude for working with existing facilities. 

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation

  • Post‑graduate degree in Structural Engineering (M.Eng. or equivalent) will be considered an asset

  • Experience in concrete structure restoration, parkade rehabilitation, and mid‑ to high‑rise balcony restoration projects considered an asset

  • Experience in building envelope rehabilitation projects considered an asset

Job Types: Permanent, full-time

Salary Range: $110,000 – 135,000

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hrs/week
